Local Waves: Nic Panken
A songwriter, guitar player and singer who grew up in Brooklyn and lives in Kingston, he spent a decade touring North America, the UK and Ireland with Spirit Family Reunion, the homegrown country, gospel and bluegrass band he co-founded in 2010 with Maggie Carson and Stephen Weinheimer. Their records include No Separation in 2013, Hands Together in 2015 and Ride Free in 2019. His first solo album is co-produced with multi-instrumentalist Jared Samuel.
Why The Local: A tiny all-ages listening room whose booking punches far above its size, from Ukrainian folk to jazz trailblazers.
