Michaela Anne
Raised on naval bases, now in Nashville after years in Brooklyn, she writes country and Americana in a soprano the New York Times called a tart twang. Ease My Mind in 2014 made the Village Voice's best country albums list; Bright Lights and the Fame in 2016 brought in Rodney Crowell and banjo player Noam Pikelny, and Desert Dove in 2019 and Oh To Be That Free in 2022 came out on Yep Roc.
Why Colony: From Dylan-era folkies to today's indie acts, everyone passes through this 1929 art-deco landmark, and the tree-lit back garden is one of the best summer hangs in town.
