The Ed Palermo Big Band
Alto saxophonist and arranger Ed Palermo has led this ensemble since 1977, now eighteen pieces of New York players. He has transcribed and arranged roughly 200 Frank Zappa tunes, and the band spent nine years playing them in residency at The Bottom Line, 1994 to 2003. It has also worked over Todd Rundgren, King Crimson and the Beatles. Albums include Big Band Zappa (1997) and A Lousy Day in Harlem (2019).
Why The Falcon: A riverside room in Marlboro running donation-based shows nearly nightly, with real jam-scene pedigree.
