Willie Nile

The Falcon · 1348 Route 9W, Marlboro, NY

Born Robert Noonan in Buffalo, he came up through Greenwich Village folk clubs and the Bowery punk scene, and has been called the unofficial poet laureate of New York City. He plays guitar, piano and harmonica, debuted with Willie Nile in 1980, and has since made Streets of New York (2006), American Ride (2013) and New York at Night (2020). Pete Townshend asked him to open the Who's 1980 US tour.

Why The Falcon: A riverside room in Marlboro running donation-based shows nearly nightly, with real jam-scene pedigree.
